Overheard: “You gave me a complex! Way back when we first met you called me a geek and it gave me a complex.”

Bullshit! Nobody gives you a complex, you give YOURSELF a complex. The other person simply made a statement and YOU decided it was a big pile of stinky dog shit. Then you went the extra mile and smeared their dog shit all over yourself.

Next time somebody hands you a pile of dog shit DON’T smear it all over yourself and then blame them for your having a complex.

Stop smearing shit all over yourself!

One of the secrets to self confidence is saying something nice about/to somebody else without expecting a compliment in return! A large part of self confidence & self esteem is karma: an on-going “process” of interacting with others without looking to see what’s in it for you. Put something nice out into the world. Say something beautiful, something uplifting, something positive to another human being – and leave it at that. Then do it again the next day.

Self confidence starts with a small compliment toward another person. You can start with wishing a coffeehouse employee a “Happy Monday!” It’s something that’s easy for you to say and easy for them to hear. And it’s not an unusual compliment that might make you feel uncomfortable. Everybody wins!
