And That’s Why Your Heart Is Kind

When you hold the door open for someone and they don’t say thank you… You held the door open out of the kindness of your heart, not a payment-due transaction. In fact, you held the door open with zero expectations of a thank you. And that’s why your heart is kind.

While gratitude from the other person is awesome, it isn’t why you held the door open in the first place. You held the door open because you’re kind. And that’s it. You led by example. Any gratitude shown by the other person isn’t why you decided to be kind in the first place. Kindness doesn’t require a quid pro quo. Kindness stands on it own and requires no acknowledgement.

When I hold the door open for someone and they don’t say *thank you* – I can stop right there and be 100% happy toward the person that didn’t say thank you.In that very moment I can put a smile on my face, and in my mind I can say, “Best of success to you.” Think of yourself as the *breath of fresh air* in their life.

If your intentions are for good then your kindness doesn’t need to be acknowledged. Kindness leads by example, not by quid pro quo.
